Colm Meaney has been cast in a SyFy miniseries based on an Arthur C. Clarke novel.

Childhood’s End will be a six-hour miniseries.

Written by Matthew Graham, Childhood’s End “follows the peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious ‘Overlords,’ whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture.”

Meaney will take on the role of Wainwright, a “powerful, confident owner of a major news organization.”

Others in the cast include Charlotte Nicdao, Julian McMahon, Daisy Betts, Mike Vogel, Charles Dance, Ashley Zuckerman, Osy Ikhile, and Yael Stone.

Childhood’s End is set to debut this year.
