Trek Actor Emmy Nominations

Several people associated with Trek series or movies have been nominated for Emmys.

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards winners will be announced next month.

The nominees of interest to Trek fans include:

Kate Mulgrew (Orange is the New Black) – Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Mulgrew is up against Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Allison Janney (Mom), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory), and Anna Chlumsky (Amy Brookheimer).

Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie. Cumberbatch’s fellow nominees include Chiweter Ejiofor (Dancing on the Edge), Martin Freeman (Fargo), Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo), Idris Elba (Luther), and Mark Ruffalo (The Normal Heart).

Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey, directed by Brannon Braga, is in contention for the Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming Emmy. The series was also nominated for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series.

The Next Generation‘s Whoopi Goldberg‘s Whoopi Goldberg Presents Moms Mabley was nominated in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special category. Goldberg was also nominated for Outstanding Narrator for her work in Whoopi Goldberg Presents Moms Mabley.

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast on NBC on August 25 at 8 PM EDT.
