Thanks to the generosity of the fans, LeVar Burton‘s Reading Rainbow Kickstarter is up to almost five million dollars in pledges.

98,153 backers have pledged the amount, which is a new record for Kickstarter backers.

The campaign has only one more day to go, and each pledge is worth twice the pledge, with Seth MacFarlane matching the next million dollars in pledges.

According to an update by Burton, “hundreds,” of fans “have written and commented to tell us that you’re increasing — even doubling — your pledges to take advantage of the matching. That means everything to us, and I hope you’ll be proud of what we accomplish together.”

The Reading Rainbow campaign is now one of the top five Kickstarter projects of all time, behind Pebble (an e-Paper watch), OUYA (a video game console), Pono Music, and the Veronica Mars Movie Project.

Each of those four campaigns is also offering limited-edition rewards, one from each project, to help the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter.

Details on the new perks can be found here.
