Kate Mulgrew, and the show on which she is currently appearing, Orange is the New Black, received Critics’ Choice awards.

The awards were given out at the Fourth Annual Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony, held last night.

Mulgrew tied with Allison Janney for Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series; Mulgrew for her work in Orange is the New Black, and Janney for her work in Mom.

Orange is the New Black won for Best Comedy Series, beating out The Big Bang Theory, Broad City, Louie, Silicon Valley, and Veep.

Several other Trek actors were nominated for awards, but didn’t win. Whoopi Goldberg was up for a Critics’ Choice award in the Best Actress In A Movie Or Mini-Series category for her work in A Day Late and a Dollar Short, but lost to Jessica Lange who won for American Horror Story. And Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock: His Last Vow) lost out to Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo).

  1. I’m a big fan of Kate all everything but holy crap that picture of her with the red hair is scary!

  2. She’s super-intimidating in the first season, and purposely so. Her power is in her hair 🙂

  3. She’s my favourite character in that show and not because she’s from a Star Trek series… well, maybe a little bit.
