Composer Michael Giacchino, who composed Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek into Darkness, will be the composer for the latest Jurassic Park movie, Jurassic World.

Jurassic World will be released in 3D in June 2015.

Giacchino is a fan of dinosaur movies. His first composing job was writing “the score for the Steven Spielberg-produced video game based on the film The Lost World, which was one of the earliest console video games to feature an original orchestral score.”

Working on Jurassic World “is an incredible opportunity to bring full circle the journey of dinosaurs and film that started in my backyard over thirty years ago,” said Giacchino.

“While this new score will honor the indelible work of John Williams,” said Director Colin Trevorrow, “our mission is the same as the film itself — to create something bold and new for people who love dinosaurs.”

  1. No John Williams, huh. It will not be the same. Is he just getting to old? or are the Studios as usual being foolish?

  2. John Williams doesn’t seem to be taking as many jobs these days, and especially not ones that overlap. Right now he’s committed to Star Wars, and while I may sniffle, Michael Giacchino is no slouch, and with his Trek scores has shown he can really bring the awe and majesty.
