Cumberbatch Joins War Drama

Star Trek into Darkness‘ Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on for The Yellow Birds.
The Yellow Birds is an adaptation of the novel of the same title, written by Kevin Powers.
The Yellow Birds is the story of twenty-one-year-old Private Bartle (Will Poulter), and the teenaged Private Murphy (Tye Sheridan), who meet in boot camp before their deployment to Iraq.
Cumberbatch will take on the role of Sergeant Stirling, a mentor for the two soldiers.
The Yellow Birds will be written and directed by David Lowery.
