The ever-busy William Shatner has added another project to his schedule, a reality show about house renovations.

The show from DIY Network will be called The Shatner Project.

Produced by Scott Sternberg Productions, The Shatner Project, a five-episode series, will follow the renovation of Shatner’s California home.

In each thirty-minute episode, Shatner and wife Liz, “with the help of a construction team, will gut their 1970s-style California home, including the kitchen, living room and dining room. The couple also will renovate the front patio area in order to create the perfect place for big family parties, as well as remodel Shatner’s favorite hangout spot, the media room.”

“I am embracing change,” said Shatner. “Our home will be unfamiliar territory for a while but I am excited by all of it.”

Shatner could easily handle a phaser as Captain Kirk, “but I don’t know about a hammer,” he said.

What can viewers expect from the show? “This is like a dramatic show with a revelation at the end,” said Shatner “There’s conflict and there’s tension, and characters evolve.”

The Shatner Project is set to debut in October. Shatner said that the show may run for six episodes instead of the planned five.
