A new commercial for a Samsung product uses clips from classic television shows including Star Trek.

The company is promoting its new Galaxy Gear Smart Watch and according to Samsung, the future portrayed in shows such as Star Trek is “already here.”

“It’s finally real,” Samsung proclaims, after showing a series of communication devices from television shows dating back to the 1960s. The company is referring to their new Galaxy Gear Smart Watch.

“At Samsung we’re about relentless innovation and being the first to market with game changing products,” said CMO Todd Pendleteon. “With Galaxy Gear, we are defining a new mobile experience and introducing consumers to these new ways of interacting with their smartphone.”

  1. Great ad for a useless product. Damn it, I don’t want this thing, I WANT THE DICK TRACY WRIST RADIO.

  2. I like the commercial, but most of the sci-fi devices (most likely all) operated without a huge network of cell phone towers and satellites. Also, I think the watch needs your cell phone to operate — the calling functions are in the phone. Like the ad, though.
