Breaking Bad Star Trek Scene

Last night’s episode of Breaking Bad featured a conversation about Star Trek, and this Trek-related segment of the show has now been animated.

In Breaking Bad, Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a high school chemistry teacher, turns to crime when he is diagnosed with terminal cancer, and along with a former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), turns to methamphetamine production so that he can provide for his family before he dies from lung cancer.

Redemption Blu-ray Review

A Blu-ray release of the two-part Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Redemption is now available for fans of the Klingon-based episodes.

Redemption: Part 1 and Part II were originally aired as the finale of Season Four, and the beginning of Season Five, and are now presented as a single, ninety-minute episode. This is the second double episode feature length Blu-ray release, the first one being The Best of Both Worlds.

Plakson: K’Ehleyr Or Female Q?

While Suzie Plakson enjoyed playing K’Ehleyr, the Female Q was even more fun for the actress.

After her appearances as Selar and K’Ehleyr on The Next Generation, six years later Plakson returned to Star Trek:Voyager as the Female Q, playing opposite John de Lancie.  The actress found the role of the Female Q even more fun than that of K’Ehleyr had been.

Johnson: Writing Trek Comics

For Star Trek: The Next Generation fan Mike Johnson, writing Star Trek comics lets him create backstories for the character as well as peer into the Star Trek’s future.

Johnson was a fan as a child, beginning with reruns of the original series. “Even though the original series was already in re-runs when I was a kid, I had the big Kirk and Spock Mego action figures with the cloth uniforms,” he said. “Playing with them is one of my earliest memories.”

Takei: Move The 2014 Winter Olympics

Gay rights activists, including the original series’ George Takei, are calling for the 2014 Winter Olympics, due to be held in Sochi, Russia, to be moved somewhere else.

Russia recently passed legislation that “made it illegal to provide information about homosexuality to people under the age of eighteen in an effort to curtail ‘propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations.’”

Plakson: It Was A Thrill

Philadelphia Sci-Fi Screening

Ansara Passes

Michael Ansara, best-known to Star Trek fans as Kang the Klingon Commander, is dead at the age of ninety-one.

Ansara died last Wednesday at his home in Calabasas, California from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

New Award For Shatner

William Shatner is slated to get a legacy award from the Stratford Festival.

The Stratford Festival strives to “create stimulating, thought-provoking productions of Shakespeare’s plays, to examine other plays from the classical repertoire, and to foster and support the development of Canadian theater practitioners.”

Urban In The Loft
