I think that I might be the only "Star Trek" fan who actually liked this episode. It's not exactly "Far Beyond the Stars" but I thought that it was a fun and entertaining romp.

I was trying to remember why I had fond memories of this episode when I realized it was just that the "Bajoran Renewal Festival" was an insanely useful card to play in the Decipher card game >< . I'll admit, the episode feels like someone accidentally green-lit someone's fan-fiction script, with the non-sensical pairings/attractions of characters. I don't feel like commenting on other things that have been commented before, but I really do agree with the assessment that Lwaxana's behavior toward Odo is in direct conflict with the bond they developed in her previous episode with him. A total misfire for the show's creators, and a missed opportunity.

I really do struggle with Keiko. I've posted about this before, but I had a very hard time seeing what held the O'Briens' marriage together with how much conflict was portrayed on the show. As far as this episode goes, sadly I don't really want to re-watch it to check out the interaction because unlike Michelle I literally cannot STAND watching Majel Barrett act. I found her Lwaxana character loud and abrasive and about as tasteless as a disco ball in a funeral parlor.

It seemed to me Keiko was only around for a lot of the bad stuff, and often coming as a shrew even to female viewers. Just like "Guest" only comments on these Retro Reviews to complain about the stuff he doesn't agree with. Wut up?

"It’s like the writers have no idea what a successful partnership looks like."

Or they were depicting a less-than-fully-successful partnership and succeeding.

"...with the possible exception of the moment when Sisko realizes that his beloved mentor Curzon Dax might have had the hots for him."

Oh, you've got to be kidding.
