Nichols and De Lancie To Judge Design Contest

Shimerman On Castle

Star Trek: Renegades Kickstarter

Star Trek: Renegades, a new production aimed at bringing Star Trek back to television, has begun production on a professionally-produced television pilot, and fans can help courtesy of a new Kickstarter project.

Star Trek: Renegades is “set a decade after Voyager’s return from the Delta Quadrant, [and] finds the Federation in a crisis that pushes the heroes to their limits, and explores the darker side of the human psyche.”

Mulgrew Joins Netflix Series

Star Trek: Voyager‘s Kate Mulgrew has joined the Netflix series Orange is the New Black.

The series is an adaptation of Piper Kerman‘s book, Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison, published last year.

Stewart Joins Daily Show Strike

The NFL referee strike was not the only strike gathering attention on television last night.

Correspondents from The Daily Show “went on strike” too, and actors were “brought on board to take the place of seasoned regulars like John Oliver.”

Farragut Fest

Farragut Films, a Star Trek fan film production company, has completed its move to Kingsland, Georgia, and has invited the public to come and see their Star Trek sets.

The event, dubbed Farragut Fest, will be held on December 8 at the new studio in Kingsland (516 W. William Avenue), from ten A.M. to 4 PM.

Shatner Musical Guest Appearance

William Shatner has made a guest appearance on Planet Earth Attack, the second album from the “industrial rock/metal/dubstep crossover masterminds” Blackburner.

The album, released yesterday, follows Blackburner‘s first album, Feel The Burn, which debuted earlier this year.

December IDW Publishing Trek Comics

December will be a busy month for Star Trek comics, with five different issues scheduled to be released.

The IDW Publishing comics for December will include: Star Trek #16, Star Trek 100 Page Winter Spectacular 2012, Star Trek: The Next Generation Omnibus, Star Trek: The Next Generation: Hive #4, and Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2 #8.

Cumberbatch Praises Abrams

New Abrams Pilot

The ever-busy J.J. Abrams has a new pilot in progress, this one featuring a girl with special powers.

The NBC pilot will be directed by the Oscar-nominated Alfonso Cuarón, and written by Mark Friedman (Home of the Brave).

Stewart Cable Woes

Moving into a new place means getting various services established and for Sir Patrick Stewart, it might have been easier to hook up with the Borg hive mind than to get his cable service connected at his new digs in Brooklyn.

Patrick took to Twitter when his attempt to set up his cable with Time Warner Cable did not go well. “All I wanted to do was set up a new account with TWCable_NYC,” he complained, “but 36hrs later, I’ve lost the will to live.”
