Pegg’s The World’s End Is A Go

2 min read

For fans hoping for a third film in the “Three-Flavor Cornetto Trilogy” of films, there is good news today with the announcement that The World’s End will begin filming this autumn.

The World’s End will be directed by Edgar Wright and will star Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

“I am beyond excited that we have finally started the process that will bring Edgar, Nick and myself together again,” said Pegg. “Locations are being sought, characters cast and before long we will be bringing this anthology of gelato and plasma to a close. It’s a cliché I know but I genuinely think we have saved the best ’til last.”

In The World’s End, “twenty years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell-bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a forty-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.”

The “Three-Flavor Cornetto Trilogy” refers to the fact that each of the films, including 2004’s Shaun of the Dead, 2007’s Hot Fuzz and The World’s End, features (or will feature) a different-flavored Cornetto in the movie. A Cornetto is a brand of ice cream cone sold in the UK.
