That must have been when Avery Brooks did most of his talking. He just slumped back in his chair for most of the event. I'm very sorry to say that it seemed like he was only there to fulfill his contractual obligations, limiting his words to "no" except for his opening remarks. Questions for all five panelists were avoided with vacant humor and questions for all five went unanswered most of the time. Shatner self-promoted some of his current work, tried to inflate small points into larger ones, but did provide some insight and at least tried to answer things when he could. Bakula was the most energetic and entertaining and was the most conscientious about being there for the audience. Mulgrew answered questions, but was not memorable. Stewart seemed to enjoy himself and gave an audience member a hug despite the moderator's objection that there was not time, but one always gets the sense that Stewart is above these trivial convention things and just suffers through them simply because his same high principles would not allow otherwise. The audience itself failed in its quality of some of the questioning. As for event organizing, Bakula was not even provided with his own microphone. Hello? Perhaps a somewhat different format would have helped. Maybe more of a round-table of sorts for two hours with more limited or prepared questions taken from the audience and spoken by the moderator. In summary, what should have been a powerful event for the presence of all five captains together was actually very weak.
