June-July 2012 Star Trek Conventions and Appearances

There will be thirteen conventions, shows or appearances in May and June that feature actors of interest to Star Trek fans. This listing of conventions and shows features actors from all of the televised series and several of the Star Trek movies.

June will be a busy month with ten conventions or appearances at which one may see Star Trek actors. The month kicks off with ConCarolinas, which will be held at the Charlotte Hilton University Place from June 1-3. In attendance at ConCarolinas will be Jeffrey Combs.

Pine In Talks For Drama Revival

Star Trek 2‘s Chris Pine is in talks for a role in a revival of 1955′s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

The original Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, penned by Tennessee Williams, was the story of a dysfunctional Mississippi family, gathered together to share the birthday of the dying patriarch of that family, “Big Daddy” Pollitt.

World Record Attempt at Las Vegas Official Star Trek Convention

Another attempt at a new world record for most people in Star Trek costumes in one place will take place this summer at the Official Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas.

Returning to Las Vegas for its eleventh year, the Official Star Trek Convention will be held August 9-12.

Hallmark 2012 Trek Ornaments And Comic-Con Appearance

In July, the 2012 Hallmark Star Trek ornaments can be seen at the San Diego Comic-Con, and they will also go on sale to the general public.

Three Trek ornaments will be released this year; D. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, An Extraordinary Meeting, and the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D.

Star Trek: The Exhibition In Orlando

Burton In Minor Car Accident

Fringe Syndication Rights Announced

The Science Channel has acquired the off-network syndication rights to Fringe, the science-fiction series created by J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

The agreement grants the network rights to the current four seasons plus the fifth season, which is due to air on FOX this fall.

Saldana Joins Machete Kills

Star Trek 2‘s Zoë Saldana has joined the cast of Machete Kills.

In Machete Kills, Machete Cortez (Danny Trejo) has been hired by the US government to “battle his way through Mexico in order to thwart an arms dealer with plans to launch a weapon into space.”

Cupcake To Return In Star Trek 2?

According to TrekMovie, Jason Matthew Smith, last seen in Star Trek XI, will be on the USS Enterprise again in Star Trek 2.

In Star Trek XI, Smith played the role of “Cupcake,” the cadet who got into a fight with a young James T. Kirk in a bar scene after Kirk tried to pick up Uhura. “Cupcake” later got revenge on Kirk when he arrested him on board the Enterprise.

Smith’s appearance in Star Trek 2 has not been officially confirmed by Paramount, so treat this as rumor for now.
