New Details About Trek Video Game

1 min read

A demo of a new Star Trek video game to be released by Namco in 2013 was seen at the recent Global Gamers Day in Las Vegas.

Written by Marianne Krawczyk (God of War) in collaboration with Star Trek XI‘s Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, The Star Trek video game is “based on a stand-alone storyline that continues the adventure of iconic characters Kirk and Spock as they work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.”

Namco showed a “short demo of the co-op third person shooter which will have a unique storyline that bridges the gap between Star Trek 2009 and next year’s hotly anticipated sequel.”

According to reports, “each character has specific weapons that level up through the game and the Tricorder is a big in-game element.”

The Spock character was seen using a “Combat Mind Meld,” allowing Spock to “control an enemy to fight for him.”

The new Star Trek game will be released in the first quarter of 2013. A demo preview video will be released on April 17.

  1. …and a(nother) Star Trek shooter game with a “combat mind meld” demonstrates exactly what level of understanding and respect for Star Trek on the part of Misters Orci and Kurtzman?

  2. Hopefully the ground combat will be more interesting than STO.

STO ground NPC AI = shite.

  3. Well there is Star Trek Conquest for the Wii if you are into strategy games, but there isn’t that much diversity in titles in comparison to years ago when Activision handled the franchise.

As for the new Star Trek game, as people on Youtube mentioned, it seems to look and play surprisingly much like the Mass Effect games. Any coincidence?

  4. And that in a nut shell is why JJ Trek is a piece of crap if you have been a life long Star Trek fan. No respect for the fan base that made this franchise, well, a franchise in the first place. Let’s just dumb everything down for the folks who never got the original show in the first place. Oh but I forgot, Orci and Kurtzman are supper “respectful” to what’s come before. I mean, they used to watch TNG in college, that makes everything ok.

Sorry, JJ Trek brings out strong feelings. Man do I miss Rick Berman.
