Susanna Thompson, best-known to Star Trek: Voyager fans for her role as the Borg Queen, and to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fans as Lenara Khan (Rejoined) has been signed for a role on The CW’s Arrow pilot.

Thompson will play Moira Queen, the mother of Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy who is also the vigilante superhero Green Arrow.

Arrow is a “modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow…the vigilante superhero who fights crime using archery, martial arts and technology under his secret identity as Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy and billionaire industrialist-turned-outspoken politician in Star City.”

In Arrow, Oliver Queen has returned to Star City after spending five years shipwrecked on an island in the South China Sea.

Thompson’s character Moira has “remarried during the disappearance of her son and husband, and has control of the family’s billions. As such, she’s keenly interested in learning whether Oliver’s father will turn up unexpectedly, ruining her new marriage and inspecting the books.”

Arrow is one to watch. Susanna Thompson brings a lot of integrity to everything she does. Good move, CW.

Sounds like someone goofed here. They say the mother has returned after being shipwrecked, but that it was her husband and son who disappeared. In the comics, it was Oliver who got shipwrecked.

Eh. Since it’s not going to be based on the SMALLVILLE version of the character, after all these years, it’s iffy at best. Hope it doesn’t turn out to be another BIRDS OF PREY.
