Who wouldn’t? It’s insipid, shiny garbage. I’d rather have another period of downtime and then return to the proper Trek universe than continue to play in this adolescent sandbox.

The sooner the current, money-making Trek is ruined, the sooner we have to wait copious amounts of time again before anything new whatsoever.

I wouldn’t be so eager to see it fall unless you well and truly despise Abrams’ interpretation.

I’m not sure about Indian names, but a lot of other cultures are more akin to the Bajoran conceit of naming than the western one: namely that the first name isn’t the given name like John or Chuck. The Chinese are definitely like that, as are most muslims. Again, not sure of the Sikh tradition, but Khan could easily be his first, but not his given name, as it were.

But yeah, this is all a trainwreck waiting to happen. Then again, the sooner Abrams, Lindelof, Orci, and Kurtzman ruin their Trek, the sooner we get back to the real Trek universe.

Ah. Well then. One worry down, only 2 left. The whole Latin-for-Indian crap, and Khan being in the movie at all.
(Why do we always call him by his first name [or is it his title]? Isn’t that like saying “Adolf”? A little familiar… but i guess no one’s closer than your nemesis.)

That’s a normal audition process when down to the wire. It enables a number of production people who are in multiple different film locations to “be in the same room” (they would be using Skype Pro). It makes the process a ton easier and money saving. I’ve auditioned for commercials over Skype and got feed back from a director in LA and a casting agent in New York. Not to worry.

he looks too nice. he even befriended Bourne at the end of the last movie and it all seemed right because of his boyish face.

Dr. McCoy (Urban) was even meaner in the Bourne franchise; he’d be a better Khan if anything.
