More Detail On Weller Star Trek 2 Role

A small bit of information was released regarding Peter Weller‘s role in Star Trek 2.

The tidbit came courtesy of his agent, Todd Eisner. “Of course J.J. Abrams is very tight-lipped about his projects,” said Eisner, “but I do know that it’s a substantial role and that Peter is playing a C.E.O.”

Shooting on Star Trek 2, which will be released on May 17, 2013, begins next month.

Quinto: Teen Suicide And The Trevor Project

Sunday night, Amber Heard (The Playboy Club) and Star Trek XI‘s Zachary Quinto appeared at Trevor Live for the Trevor Project where they read letters and emails from teens struggling with their sexual identity who had been helped by the Trevor Project.

The Trevor Lifeline & Chat is a place where trained counselors are available 24/7 to assist young people who “are in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk.”

No Del Toro For Star Trek 2

In spite of the hopes of J.J. Abrams, Benecio Del Toro will not be beaming aboard Star Trek 2.

Evidently, money issues scuttled the deal, so del Toro is out and Abrams will have to find another actor to play the villain, who is said to be… well, look behind the cut, so that those who don’t wish to be spoiled, won’t be.

Drex Files Update

Fans of Doug Drexler will be delighted to hear that he has updated his blog with plenty of goodies, including information about his work on an eagerly anticipated Trek DVD project.

Weller Joins Star Trek 2

Peter Weller, best-known to movie fans for his roles in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension and the first two RoboCop movies, will be joining Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and the rest in Star Trek 2.

The role is said to be a “principal role,” according to Deadline, but as to be expected, no details have been given.

Weller has been seen in Star Trek before. He played John Frederick Paxton in Star Trek: Enterprise (Terra Prime, Demons), where he was the xenophobic chief administrator of Luna’s Orpheus Mining Colony. Paxton created a half-Vulcan, half-Human baby using DNA from Trip Tucker and T’Pol. Paxton was revealed to be a follower of Colonel Green (reference from the original series’ episode The Savage Curtain).

The Latino Review website claims to know which villain role Benicio Del Toro will play in Star Trek 2.

Although he hasn’t been officially announced yet as part of Star Trek 2, it is expected that Del Toro will sign up for the Abrams’ sequel soon.

Star Trek Online: Stahl Returns And Season Five

Star Trek: Online Executive Producer Dan Stahl has returned to the game after working at Zynga.

Returning as a senior producer, and leading a team working on Star Trek: Online’s The Foundry, Stahl is glad to be back. “My time at Zynga was fun and interesting,” he said, “but I really missed working with my colleagues here.”

Sirtis: I Should Have Spoken Up More

If Marina Sirtis could go back in time and do Star Trek: The Next Generation again, there is something that she would change about her own behavior.

One of Sirtis’ regrets is that she didn’t think more about Troi’s own story, but at the time she did The Next Generation, Sirtis was content with what was happening. “Hindsight is 20-20, isn’t it,” she said ruefully. “I have to be honest with you and say that, at the time, I was perfectly happy.”

Eve To Join Star Trek 2?

If J.J. Abrams has his way, Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League, Entourage) will be appearing in Star Trek 2.

Two other actresses, Teresa Palmer (I am Number Four), and Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) were in contention for the role, but Eve was the one chosen by Abrams.
