Colm Meaney, best-known to Star Trek fans as Transporter Chief Miles O’Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was seen at the Helsinki International Film Festival in Parked.

In Parked, Meaney portrays Fred Daly, a homeless Irish man who ends up living in his car after returning from England only to find that jobs are non-existent back home in Dublin.

Meaney explained that Parked is “…basically three characters who, for different reasons, and at different stages of their lives, have come to a crossroads; they’re all a bit lost. It’s a beautiful film.”

The low-budget film was funded with Irish and Finnish money and conditions during the shoot were tough. “It was a very difficult shoot,” said Meaney. “The weather was appalling … there were no luxuries.”

Parked will open in Europe next month.
