1 min read

A Star Trek-themed attraction will be part of the 74-hectare Red Sea Astrarium project, which will begin development next year.

And a familiar name will be part of the investment group funding the attraction, King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Trek fans remember that King Abdullah II, who was then Prince Abdullah, had a cameo non-speaking role in Star Trek: Voyager: Investigations back in 1995. King Abdullah II is known to be a Star Trek fan.

“They have a group of investors,” said Randa Ayoubi, the chief executive of Rubicon Group Holding. The company will design and produce the entertainment elements of the resort. “The main Jordanian investor is the King Abdullah Fund.

The resort will be built in Aqaba, and will include hotels, theaters, dining and shopping and will be “themed around the idea of Jordan as a ‘crossroads of civilizations.'”

The Star Trek-themed “space-flight adventure,” to be based on Star Trek XI, will be created under license from CBS Consumer Products and “creatively developed” by Paramount Recreation.
