Shatnerpalooza EPIX Free Trial Details

For Star Trek fans who want to watch the forthcoming Shatnerpalooza this week, EPIX is offering US-based fans a free two-week trial offer.

The good news for the trial offer is that it comes “strings free,” meaning no credit card is needed to sign up for this free two-week trial. All one must do is to fill out an online form and mid-week would be a good time to do so to get the maximum time to watch all of the Shatner features.

New Whalen Patrick Stewart Convention Poster

Fans of Tom Whalen‘s art who have purchased a ticket for this autumn’s Vulcan Events to be held in the Orlando, Florida area, will also have the option of pre-ordering a new poster commemorating Sir Patrick Stewart‘s appearance at the convention. Whalen was the artist of Mondo’s most recent offering, the Let That Be Your Last Battlefield poster that debuted earlier today.

As is usually the case with the Mondo poster offerings, the Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, offered earlier today, sold out within an hour. That poster was artist Whalen’s second poster in the series; the first one was based on the original series Journey to Babel episode. The Stewart poster is expected to sell out quickly as well.

The Long Khan

Fans of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan remember the scene where James T. Kirk screams out “KHHHHAAAAANNN!” after Khan informs him that he has marooned Kirk in the center of a dead planet and buried him alive.

Now, a fun fan activity tied in with EPIX’s Shatnerpalooza gives fans a chance to upload their own Khan screams.

The viral Shatner celebration is in progress and by heading to The Long Khan, fans can add their own video to the chain and contribute to the “longest Khan in history,” and can see what others have posted.

The Long Khan will run through August.

Eight Days Until The Captains Airs

The world television premiere of William Shatner‘s The Captains documentary is next Friday.

Photos, clips and interview excerpts are beginning to emerge ahead of next week’s Shatnerpalooza extravaganza, which will air on EPIX and kick off next Thursday with Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet. An exclusive photo is shown here in a thumbnail-sized edition and the full-sized photo can be seen by clicking on that thumbnail.

New U.K. Television Show Casting For Sci-Fi Themed Wedding

A brand new series for Sky Living will offer two couples (U.K. residents only), with brilliant exciting ideas about their wedding day but not the budget to match, a sci-fi themed wedding.

The couples will receive £25,000 for their big day and all they have to do in return if chosen for the TV series is to “work in harmony together to plan an identical wedding day.”

Pine Casting Rumor

Chris Pine is one of the actors in contention for a role in a remake of a 1987 sci-fi film.

Pine, along with Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves, are all under consideration for the role of Robocop.

Rumor has it that the actor best-known to Star Trek fans as the young Captain Kirk is the top candidate for the role.

Darren Passed On Fontaine Multiple Times

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fans have fond memories of episodes that included the hologram lounge singer Vic Fontaine, but actor/singer James Darren wasn’t impressed at first by the chance to play the popular character.

Like many actors, Darren wanted to do something that wasn’t too similar to what he was or what he did in real life. “They said I was going to be playing a singer and I said, “No, that’s too much on the nose. I want to pass.’ That’s what I told my agent,” said Darren.

Koenig: Shatner Was No Patrick Stewart

Even though one might have assumed that the hatchet was buried when Walter Koenig appeared on Shatner’s Raw Nerve earlier this year, Koenig is still not a fan of William Shatner.

According to TrekMovie.com, while speaking to an audience at the London Comic Con held last weekend, Koenig revealed his lingering bitterness towards his fellow actor.

Official Star Trek PADD App for iPad

CBS Interactive has launched the official Star Trek PADD app for the iPad and this new app is available now in the iTunes store.

According to the official press release, the Star Trek PADD app, developed in conjunction with CBS Mobile by app development studio ArcTouch, will “transport fans back through the extensive forty-year history of the Star Trek television franchise, including its amazing universe of characters, planets and technology spanning from Star Trek: The Original Series all the way to Star Trek: Enterprise. The app also includes a recognizable computer voice as well as familiar Star Trek-related sounds.”

Schallert: Trek Has Hold On People

William Schallert, best-known to Star Trek fans as the Undersecretary for Agriculture Nilz Baris on The Trouble With Tribbles, shared his memories of playing the cranky official who was offended by Captain Kirk’s lack of respect for him.

When the actor appeared at his first Star Trek convention in Los Angeles, he didn’t even recognize the name of the character whom he had played in The Trouble With Tribbles. “As I came through the door, [the fans] were saying, ‘Nilz Baris!’ I’m looking around and they said, ‘No, that’s you!’ So that’s how I learned my name from that show.”

Hemsworth In Talks For Rush

Chris Hemsworth is in negotiations for the role of a race car driver in next year’s Rush.

Hemsworth has time in-between his Thor projects (a sequel to Thor, which was released in May, is due out summer of 2013) to take on new projects, and if all goes well, he will be seen as a British Formula One driver in Rush.

New Tintin Trailer Online

A new trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, in which Star Trek XI’s Simon Pegg plays Detective Thompson, is now available online.

In The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, Tintin and his friends set off to find a treasure left behind by Tintin’s ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. Pegg and Nick Frost will play bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson.
