William Shatner was one of six people nominated in one category for a 2011 Television Critics Association (TCA) award.
The 2011 TCA Awards “recognize outstanding television programming in the 2010-2011 season, honoring both actors and producers in a variety of categories including news and information, youth, drama and comedy achievements.” (more…)

When interviewing Chris Pine for The Captains documentary, William Shatner came up with a unique way of putting the shy Pine at ease.
The Captains, a documentary on the actors who have played Star Trek captains over the years on the Star Trek televised series, includes Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula and Chris Pine.

Bruce Greenwood, Star Trek XI‘s Captain Christopher Pike, can be seen in another Abrams-directed film, Super 8.
But Greenwood, who is credited as “Cooper,” won’t be easy to spot. This is because the visual appearance of his character, the unhappy alien of Super 8, was computer-generated.

Even though there is talk about a delay in the release date of Star Trek 2, production on the movie is supposed to begin this fall according to Simon Pegg.
Pegg made the comment about Star Trek 2 as part of an interview promoting Paul, which is releasing today on Blu-ray and DVD.
“[Filming starts] this year, as far as I know,” he said. “It’s pretty much common knowledge that it’s hopefully shooting in the autumn.”

According to TrekMovie.com, fans attending the L.A. Times Hero Complex Film Fest received an update on Star Trek 2 courtesy of Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof.
The trio updated the audience on the progress of the sequel. “As of right now, there is kind of a seventy-five or eighty page half script, half…I don’t know what it is,” said Lindelof.

Next year, Polar Lights will produce two editions of an original series USS Enterprise NCC-1701 plastic model kit.
The USS Enterprise will be a 1:350 scale model, over thirty-two inches long, detailed after the 11′ filming model used in the filming of the original series.

Star Trek XI co-writer Damon Lindelof has signed with Disney to write and produce 1952, a science fiction adventure film.
The movie project, for which Lindelof will earn seven figures, came out of meetings with Sean Bailey, Disney production president, and senior executive Brigham Taylor.
No further details are available about 1952, but the project will encompass more than a movie, having “multiple platform aspirations.”
Lindelof will start on 1952 after Star Trek 2.

J.J. Abrams has still not made up his mind about directing Star Trek 2, but expects to have a decision soon.
According to MTV, Abrams is involved in on-going negotiations with Paramount regarding Star Trek 2, including its production schedule. “We’re working on that right now,” he said. “I hope to have some information soon.”
That information would hopefully include news about whether Abrams will direct Star Trek 2. “I would hope so,” he said, when asked about that possibility, “but we’ll see. No decisions yet, but I look forward to having the answer soon.
So Trek fans can anticipate another Star Trek movie, as well as another round of teases, secrecy and waiting.

In his second promotional video for Allegiance, George Takei gets into the habit.
Takei tried to make it to Broadway via Spiderman, but now, he’s sure that his performance as Sister Mary Teriyaki in Sister Act will be the ticket to fame and fortune.

During Star Trek XI, Simon Pegg decided to circumvent the strict security on the set.
Some people may enjoy trying to get around restrictions, but Pegg was not one of them and the actor worried about the repercussions had he been caught sneaking a photo.

Patrick Stewart has joined a campaign against a Thames Water proposal for a twenty-mile super sewer.
The tunnel through Chambers Wharf would cost £3.6, but the cost is not the problem, the location is. Local residents are against the possible impacts of the new super sewer.

The dates for Star Trek: The Exhibition at Kennedy Space Center have been announced.
From June 11 through September 5, those living in or near Florida will be able to experience Star Trek: The Exhibition for themselves, in The Exhibition‘s first appearance in the southeastern part of the U.S.

While on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Rene Auberjonois directed eight episodes of the show, but unlike some actors, he prefers to stick to acting.
The directing jobs came as a result of Rick Berman. “I blame Rick Berman for putting me through that,” said Auberjonois. “It was a real education.”
