Writers Hired For New Abrams Project

1 min read

Another one of J.J. Abrams‘s many irons in the fire has been revealed and as is often the case with an Abrams production, not much information is being released to the public.

Monica Breen and Alison Schapker, two writer/producers who have worked with Abrams on Fringe, Lost and Alias, will be rewriting the script for Zanbato, another Abrams project.

Zanbato is the working title of the future movie, and according to Deadline.com, the script includes “Japanese history and robotics: swashbuckling robots with swords.” A Zanbato is a very large Japanese sword originally used by Japanese foot soldiers against cavalry.

This won’t be the first time that an Abrams film owes something to Japan. According to Abrams, Cloverfield was partly inspired by a toy store stop while a trip to Japan with his son; where seeing Godzilla toys gave Abrams the idea to give America its own monster.
