The Captains of the Final Frontier, a new two-hour Star Trek documentary to be aired on the Bio Channel on Wednesday, November 3 at 9 PM, will focus on the “fearless captains of each Star Trek generation.”

In the show, a cast of Star Trek experts will analyze each Star Trek captain, whose “incredible triumphs and epic dark moments” will be discussed with the captains being compared “against each other as leaders and lovers.”

The Star Trek experts include creators and directors, episode writers, novelists and Star Trek actors. The actors include: Vaughn Armstrong, Denise Crosby, Dominic Keating, Anthony Montgomery, Kate Mulgrew, Tim Russ, and Nana Visitor. On the production side, those appearing on the show will include: Ira Steven Behr, Rick Berman, Manny Coto, René Echevarria, Nicholas Meyer, Michael & Denise Okuda, and Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens. Star Trek authors appearing include Kirsten Beyer, Keith R.A. DeCandido, David R. George III, David Mack, Larry Nemecek, and Geoffrey Thorne. Other experts include: comics creator Ken Penders and Rod Roddenberry, the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

According to the press release, the show will take “a hard look at the creation, background and history of these captains, this show will delve into their development and examine the evolution of the role of captain itself, as it progressed with each consecutive series and film.” The cast of experts will “bring the story behind the story to life they’ll reveal how these characters came to be, who was up for the roles and will compare their styles across the leadership spectrum.”
