Actor/Director Corey Allen, who directed episodes for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, passed away on June 27.
Allen, the last remaining cast member from Rebel Without a Cause, died at the age of seventy-five of natural causes.

In an auction featuring Star Trek memorabilia, several items sold for more than their estimated worth, including a coat worn by Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek XI.
Last weekend, a Star Trek auction was held by Julien’s Auctions, featuring memorabilia from the series dating back to the 1960s and including props and costumes from Star Trek XI.

Anton Yelchin, Star Trek XI‘s Chekov, is on the final list of candidates to play Peter Parker in Sony’s Spider-Man.
The studio wants to finish casting the main role so it can move on to casting other roles for Spider-Man, which begins production before the end of the year.

Bruce Greenwood, best-known to Star Trek XI fans for his role as Captain Christopher Pike, was honored by the British Colombia Entertainment Hall of Fame this weekend.
Greenwood joined seven others who were also inducted into the B.C. Hall of Fame’s Starwalk at a ceremony held Sunday night at the Orpheum Theater.

Archaia’s Lucid #1, the first of a four-issue spy genre comic produced by Zachary Quinto‘s Before The Door media production company, will be released in August.
Written by Michael McMillian (True Blood), Lucid is the story of “Agent Matthew Dee, a modern ‘Combat Mage’ in service of the government whose personal history traces back to real life 16th Century occultist John Dee and whose current fate gets twisted up with an ancient evil from Arthurian legend.”

While at the Saturn Awards a few days ago, Star Trek XI co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci spoke about their various projects, including Star Trek XII.
Although Star Trek XII doesn’t release until June of 2012, eager fans want to know what story progress Kurtzman and Orci have made in writing the next saga of the Star Trek story and who the villain of the piece will be.

One hundred-and-thirty-five people who have distinguished themselves in the motion picture industry were invited to join the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, including several affiliated with Star Trek XI.
The invitees were drawn from the following categories: actors, animators, art directors, at-large, casting directors, cinematographers, costume designers, directors, documentary, executives, film editors, live action short films, makeup artists and hair stylists, music, producers, production designers, public relations, set decorators, sound, visual effects and writers.

Last night was the 39th Annual Saturn Awards and while Avatar dominated, winning ten Saturn Awards, Star Trek didn’t leave totally empty-handed.
Star Trek XI was represented in the awards with a win in the Best Make-up collection, the award going to Barney Burman, Mindy Hall and Jean Harlow for their work on the movie.

One of the frustrations of acting is that sometimes, if one does a character well, that’s all that anyone else sees, which makes getting different roles in the future harder for an actress.
Leeta was not just window-dressing, according to Chase Masterson. “…She was a study of opposites,” said Masterson. “As a Bajoran Dabo girl, she’s both fun and highly spiritual. She dresses sexily, but she’s smart enough to know how to approach Dr. Bashir. It wasn’t ‘hey, Baby…,’ it was more coy, sweeter.

Keegan de Lancie, son of John de Lancie (Q), made an appearance at Wizard World Philly 2010 where he spoke about his life after playing Q’s son on Star Trek: Voyager.
Unlike many actors, de Lancie was more interested in another career and he headed to college and pursued that goal, ending up working for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) a United Nations Agency.

Simon Pegg, Star Trek XI‘s Scotty, will be voicing Reepicheep in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Bill Nighy, who was originally slated to voice Reepicheep, was replaced by Pegg, who confirmed the role on his Twitter account. “Yes Narnians, the rumours are true,” said Pegg. “I have gone through the picture in the bedroom.”
