Star Trek XI’s Zoë Saldana to be the recipient of the Face of the Future Award.
Saldana will be presented the Face of the Future award at the 2010 Women in Film fund-raising dinner and Crystal + Lucy Awards event on June 1.
The Face of the Future award honors an actress who is having a turning point in her work in film or television. Past recipients of the award include Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria), Ginnifer Godwin (Big Love), Elizabeth Banks (Spider-Man, 30 Rock) and Maria Bello (E.R).
“At the dawn of a new decade, it is heartening to acknowledge careers marked by independent vision, daring creative choices and unique talent,” said Jane Fleming, the president of Women in Film, Los Angeles.
The non-profit Women in Film and the Women in Film Foundation was founded in 1973 and supports women in the film industry through grants, mentorships and a network of contacts.
