Shatner Hollywood Charity Horse Show

1 min read

The 2010 Priceline.com Hollywood Charity Horse Show date and musical guest have been announced.

For the past two decades, William Shatner‘s Hollywood Charity Horse Show has raised money for various children’s charities. On May 1, world-class horses and riders will perform and compete in this year’s competition.

ShatnerHorseback021010Seeing severely handicapped students performing intricate exercises on horseback back in the 1980s at an exhibition by AHEAD With Horses, a therapeutic riding group for handicapped children, affected Shatner to the point where he wanted to lend his time and fame to helping handicapped children. “You can’t watch these kids without knowing you have to help, somehow,” he said.

The result was the Hollywood Charity Horse Show. This year’s show, held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, will feature musical guest Sheryl Crow.

Beneficiaries of the show will be: AHEAD with Horses, Camp Max Straus, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Hollenbeck Police Activities League, The Painted Turtle and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
