The fourth quarter and full year revenue results for Viacom Inc. (parent company of Paramount) were released and the company did better than had been expected by Wall Street.
Viacom, which owns media properties such as MTV and Nickelodeon cable networks, as well as Paramount, attributes the increase in profitability to its Filmed Entertainment segment as well as to cost containment measures throughout the company.

In a recent interview with Airlock Alpha, Rod Roddenberry gave his opinion regarding who would be the best choice to play the android Questor in The Questor Tapes.
“I’m not immersed in the industry right now,” said Roddenberry, “and I don’t have a whole list of names I could pull out a hat. I come from the point of view of a fan, a fan of Star Trek and a fan of Gene Roddenberry.”

The 2010 Priceline.com Hollywood Charity Horse Show date and musical guest have been announced.
For the past two decades, William Shatner‘s Hollywood Charity Horse Show has raised money for various children’s charities. On May 1, world-class horses and riders will perform and compete in this year’s competition.

Paramount has announced that Tom Cruise will be returning as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible IV and that he will be producing the fourth installment of the Mission: Impossible series along with J.J. Abrams.
Abrams, who directed Mission: Impossible III, will not be directing Mission: Impossible IV, which is due out Memorial Day weekend 2011, going up against The Hangover 2.
“Tom and J.J. are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise,” said Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Brad Grey.
The search continues for a director for Mission: Impossible IV.

According to TrekMovie.com, Star Trek: Phase II, the fan-film series, is in pre-production on Origins, a prequel story featuring a young James T. Kirk.
Star Trek XI told the origins story of the Enterprise crew, now Phase II will take a turn at exploring the early career of James T. Kirk, including the first meeting of Kirk and his logical future First Officer Mr. Spock.

According to TrekMovie.com, fans wanting a piece of Star Trek: The Experience will be able at a future date to purchase some of the items formerly featured at the Trek-themed attraction formerly at the Las Vegas Hilton.
Star Trek: The Experience has been closed for more than a year now and while plans are still in progress to open a new attraction in downtown Las Vegas at the Neonopolis development, CBS has decided that not all of the items used in the Las Vegas Hilton attraction and stored in a warehouse when the attraction closed will be needed for the Neonopolis location.

Recently, the proposed budget for NASA was announced and to the disappointment of many, Project Constellation, a six-year, nine billion dollar project which would have led men back to the moon, was not a part of future plans.
Star Trek designers Mike and Denise Okuda disagree with the new direction in the space program and have sent a letter to fans, encouraging them to write to President Obama and to their elected representatives in hopes of getting Project Constellation restored.

Star Trek XI Co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have added even more to their already full plates with word that they are taking on a product based on a comic series published by IDW Publishing.
The pair will work on an adaptation of Locke & Key, a comic series written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez. Locke & Key is set in the village of Lovecraft and is the story of the Locke family, who move to their estate (Keyhouse), after the murder of the head of the family by a deranged high school student.

Star Trek: Online Executive Producer Craig Zinkievich spoke about future plans for the recently-released MMORPG.
If Star Trek: Online is embraced by gamers, expect to see such things as further “full-scale” releases/packs to complement the game in future. “Much will depend on the success of Star Trek Online,” said Zinkievich. “We would love for this game to do well, not just because it will earn us money, but because we’re all huge Star Trek fans.”

Star Trek XI Co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have signed an exclusive three-year deal with 20th Century Fox.
Kurtzman and Orci will bring in show ideas, create their own projects (with or without others) and recruit writers as part of the deal.
