1 min read

The Writers Guild of America, whose selections often agree with those of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has released their list of nominees for Adapted Screenplay.

Co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman were nominated in the Adapted Screenplay category for their work on Star Trek XI.

Adapted Screenplay Nominees:

  • Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman for Star Trek XI
  • Scott Cooper for Crazy Heart
  • Nora Ephron for Julie & Julia
  • Geoffrey Fletcher for Precious: Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire
  • Jason Reitman, Sheldon Turner for Up in the Air

Kurtzman and Orci released a statement after the announcement. “We’re friends who started writing together 20 years ago, so to be honored by our peers for a story about friendship is an amazing gift. We’re wildly grateful to all the closet WGA Trekkies for their sci-fi love.”

The winners of the WGA awards will be announced February 20, at a gala ceremony at both the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and the Hudson Theater in New York City.
