Being flexible and able to think quickly was necessary for J.J. Abrams when it came to bringing Star Trek XI from the script to the set.
As reported by Star Trek Magazine, first, a director has to be able to visualize what the movie will be. “When I’m writing something, I tend to see it specifically, at least in ways that are usually more clear than I even realize,” explained Abrams, “meaning, I’ll see things in a certain direction. I’ll see the composition of a shot or a sequence.” (more…)

A couple, who met several years ago at a Star Trek convention, will be married on the USS Enterprise Bridge inside Star Trek: The Exhibition after winning a contest offered by the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
As reported by The Examiner, Brad Siegel and Kate Erwin are the lucky couple who have won the wedding package from the Franklin Institute, after receiving the most votes online.

After reading Sarah Palin‘s farewell speech to the beat of bongo drums on Monday night, William Shatner returned to The Tonight Show last night to take on Palin’s unique way of speaking yet again.
As reported by MTV, Palin’s Twitter site provided fodder for comedian Conan O’Brien, and he invited Shatner back for another “poetic reading” of the former Governor’s tweets. (more…)

Fans worried that Star Trek XII might follow in the footsteps of Transformers 2, where the hero refuses the call to heroism, can rest easy according to Roberto Orci.
As reported by io9, although it’s common for a second movie to feature the hero wanting to escape from being heroic, that won’t be the case with Star Trek XII. According to Orci, he sees the Enterprise crew as being committed to both their mission and to doing good, and so the “hero no more” story won’t work for them. (more…)

Another Star Trek XI actor confirms that Star Trek XII is in progress.
As reported by Newsarama, although the script isn’t finished for Star Trek XII, the process of screenwriting for the sequel is under way.
“It’s definitely happening,” said Zachary Quinto. “I know that Bob [Orci] and Alex [Kurtzman] and Damon [Lindelof] and J.J. [Abrams] have been working and talking and developing stories. I don’t think there’s a script yet. I know there’s not a script yet. But they’re working on it and they’re talking about it.” (more…)

Although not assisted by Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott, scientists have been able to create transparent aluminum.
As reported by Science Daily, a transparent form of aluminium was created by Oxford scientists by bombarding aluminium with the world’s most powerful soft x-ray laser.

When Zoe Saldana hits the gym, fans will know that Star Trek XII has started shooting.
As reported by MTV, Saldana spoke briefly about Star Trek XII while she was at Comic-Con over the weekend. Saldana admitted that she has been contacted by the producers regarding her schedule availability. “What are you doing in March?” she was asked. “What are you doing in June? At the Comic-Con IDW panel, Tim Jones and Mike Johnson discussed their forthcoming comics such as Nero and the Star Trek XI adaptation comic as well as future comics including one based on a sequel to Star Trek XI and one set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation era.
As reported by TrekMovie.com, the Nero comics were meant to fill in the missing twenty-five years between Spock and Nero’s first encounter, and after they went back in time and met again. “…there is a huge story sitting right there in the middle of the movie that, obviously, they didn’t have a lot of time to go into on-screen with everything else going on,” explained Jones. “So we get to fill in a little bit of that in graphic form.” (more…)

As reported by Bookseller.com, Out of Spaced, Pegg’s autobiography, has been pushed back to Christmas 2010 due to Pegg’s “heavy schedule of film commitments this year.”
