Shatner Misbehaving

1 min read

Conan O’Brien finds out that teasing Captain Kirk about the Vulcan salute earns him a familiar human salute.

As reported by Hulu, Shatner, appearing on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien to promote his book Up Till Now, The TekWar Chronicles comic and Shatner’s Raw Nerve, revealed to O’Brien that he can’t quite master the Vulcan split-fingered salute. “That, what, you can’t do it,” said O’Brien, as Shatner struggled to separate his fingers. “You’re Captain James T. Kirk! What is this? You’re like ‘hold on hold on I’ll be right with you. Hold on, Spock. I’ll be with you. Here we go, Spock.'”

“Wait, a minute! Wait a minute! I don’t do that,” replied Shatner. “The other guy does that.”

The interview continued and when the two men argued over what to call the Biography Channel, O’Brien flashed Shatner the Vulcan salute. In return, Shatner flipped the bird to O’Brien.

“What was that all about?” asked O’Brien, walking away from Shatner. He returned, and jumped onto his desk. “What’s WRONG with you?” he yelled down to Shatner.
