Some people know from their earliest days that they want to act, but for Connor Trinneer, it was more a matter of facing reality and then deciding what he wanted to do with his life.
As reported by Jonja.net, Trinneer made his choice after realizing that the NFL wasn’t in his future. “I wasn’t going to go pro,” he said, realizing that his years of football would end soon. “I needed to find something that frankly I wanted to do with myself. I didn’t have a major or anything. I was kind of treading water at that time.” (more…)

The odds are slim for a Quantum Leap movie, says Scott Bakula, who played Sam Beckett for five seasons on the time-jumping show.
As reported by Sci Fi Wire, speaking to Quantum Leap fans at “Leap Back,” a convention held in North Hollywood, California last week, Bakula explained why a Quantum Leap movie is probably not in the cards. “I think each day it becomes slimmer and slimmer, certainly for Dean [Stockwell] and I to be a part of [a Quantum Leap movie,] said Bakula. “But I think [Series Creator Don Bellisario] simplified the situation. There are all kinds of rights issues that are looming and problematic. It’s not as simple as Don wants to get some money together and make the movie. …[But] you never know.” (more…)

Looking like a certain Vulcan made it tough to blend in with the humans on planet Earth for Zachary Quinto.
As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, the things that Quinto had done to himself to turn into the pointy-eared Vulcan couldn’t all be undone at the end of each shooting day. “Having to shave [the eyebrows] every day, having my hair in this horrible bowl cut, I felt sort of alienated from myself and alienated from other people,” said Quinto. “I never went out of the house without big chunky glasses on, and a hat. I tended to isolate a lot more during the process of the film.” (more…)

It took a comment by Chris Pine‘s sister to get him to see that playing James T. Kirk would be better than accepting a role in White Jazz.
As reported by Variety, Pine was offered the roles for White Jazz and Star Trek XI at the same time, but he was leaning towards the former. “It was not a no-brainer,” said Pine. “This wild, sociopathic, obsessive-compulsive, latently homosexual, angry young man sounded like a blast. It was just a fun-fun-fun character role. Then I had Jim Kirk, more of the Harrison Ford versus the Gary Oldman role. My natural inclination is to do the character piece.”
