Wired: Spock Prequel Comic And Abrams

A six-page comic in which Spock gives a brief history of his life up to the time of Star Trek XI is available online from the May issue of Wired Magazine.

As reported by Wired, the comic, drawn by Paul Pope with a story by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, is now online, along with an interview with Star Trek XI‘s J.J. Abrams, who guest-edited the issue. The “Mystery Issue” of Wired, edited by Abrams, is available on newsstands this month. (more…)

A new Star Trek XI-themed website has debuted, offering games and information about Star Trek XI and the products of the sponsors of the new website.

Damon Turned Down Kirk Role

J.J. Abrams’s first choice for Captain James T. Kirk was not Chris Pine, but Matt Damon.

As reported by, although Damon was the first choice for Abrams, there is no regret for what might have been. “I actually approached Matt and we had some discussions, but everything happens for a reason,” explained Abrams. “On the one hand, it would have been great to work with Matt, but at the end of the day, it was such a better move to cast the movie with unknowns.” (more…)

Pegg At London Trek Premiere

Not only the Star Trek fans were dressed up for the London Star Trek XI premiere.

As reported by MSN UK, while he didn’t wear Vulcan ears like some fans, Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in Star Trek XI, donned a kilt for the Star Trek XI premiere in London’s Empire Leicester Square.

As reported by, the short commercials are mostly comprised of scenes that fans have viewed before, but the new commercials are worth viewing for the new bits, one of which shows damage on Vulcan.

Designing The Star Trek XI Enterprise

When it came to making a new design for the USS Enterprise for Star Trek XI, Star Trek XI‘s J.J. Abrams kept it simple with a short directive to artists at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM.)

As reported by Sci Fi Wire, “He wanted a hot-rod type of vehicle, but they also wanted to preserve the Enterprise kind of look,” explained model-maker John Goodson.


Pine On Stepping Into Kirk’s Boots

Abrams: After Star Trek XI

Star Trek XI‘s J.J. Abrams discussed how the characters of Star Trek XI went from strangers to the cohesive family of the original series and what that means for future Star Trek.

As reported by taken from SciFiNow Magazine, Abrams gave clues as to what might come next after Star Trek XI. “Yes, the five year mission begins at the end of this film,” he explained. “Not literally. I’m saying that at the end of the movie they’re ready for their five year mission, because this group, when they first come together in this film, is a disparate group. They don’t know each other, they’re just meeting for the first time. Kirk and Spock have a rather contentious beginning to their relationship, and by the end of this experience together, they have become this family. Each of them has put their lives in each other’s hands. By the end of the film, they are now this group that is ready to begin their adventure.” (more…)
